8 Months & Happy New Year!
2010, who would have thought we would ever get here. As my mom said on her facebook, "It sounds so futuristic".
To end out the decade, we took Katelyn to her very first bowling alley.
We went with friends and siblings while we were still in Billings for Christmas on the 27th. Thank goodness, Montana has a smoking ban so we could take K with us. Usually bowling alleys are so smokey, but this one wasn't. She was having fun being passed to person to person. She had learned the trick of putting her arms out and people would hold her. So that is her new signal for "come and get me".
Katelyn also ended the year with her 8 month "birthday". Her grandma Pellegrino found this hat at Tractor Supply. It says "Country girl" which one day we hope she'll be. 
New Year's Eve was pretty quiet. We had Jon and Sheila and Micah Henson over for deer steaks and then we watched tv, hunting shows and the ball dropping. We should have gotten the games out, but we didn't unfortunately. The kids both went to bed early, which made for a quiet entrance into the new decade.
We were blessed to get a video camera for Christmas. So New Year's day, we were alone at home and pulled up some music of a friends, on facebook. It's Christian Rap and I got Katelyn into the music. Jason saw it and had to "capture the moment". He sent it to our friend, Marco, with the caption of, "I think you could use a chick in your video."
We may be raising a little chatty cathy. For the past 3 days, she has been talking away and ma ma ma ma is her favorite thing to say. Of course, it probably doesn't help that I make a big deal to her about saying ma ma. She is so hilarious! She also learned today, that she can grab food off of her tray and put it in her mouth. Not a lot ends up in her mouth, more is played with on her tray, but she did accomplish a few pieces on her own.
Today, as I was mixing up bun dough for our monthly church potluck, I looked behind me and found my precious girl sleeping in her highchair. She didn't have a very long nap today and only had one, so she was pretty tired. This is a very rare occurance that she would just fall asleep on her own. She only lasted long enough for me to get my camera.

K's 1st Christmas
Christmas was fun. It was more exciting to see how Katelyn would rip open her presents than it was for Jason & I to get presents. Just part of the fun of being a parent. She got several new pajamas for the coming months, some books and 2 toys. Jason & I, however, got a new video camera to capture more of her special moments.

"Have the Ravens Come?"
2 weekends ago, Jason was able to go to a conference titled "Generation Reformation". It was a round table discussion of 20 people at a time, discussing the church body and where the younger generations (20's and 30 somethings) see how it's working and what is our part in the church in the state of the country. Many topics were discussed and many contacts were made for Jason. He really felt like he was supposed to be there and it turns out that it fit with the things he has been feeling lately. It was God ordained, let's just put it that way.
While he was there, he was able to see our friends, Travis and Jenna Vaad. They are a couple of faith. While Jason was there, Travis shared with him their financial situation, which was pretty tough. They barely had enough money for any necessities . They were living in South Dakota until they felt this last summer, that they were to move to Nashville, so Jenna could do a Thunder School and Travis would watch the kids. They didn't have money to get there or to do the school. Before they left SD, Travis felt they needed to see his grandma. Before they left her, she wrote them a $1000 check! As the school went on, once again, their finances were depleting. When Jason saw them, Travis told him about a dream he had the night before. There were ravens flying in his dream. He didn't know what that meant until he did his devotions in the morning. He read the story about Elijah and how the ravens brought him his provision. Travis felt the Lord tell him that He was going to provide for them. Not through a job for Travis but that God would solely provide for them. Even though travis had been out trying to find work. That day, Travis went out for something, came back and found a raven sitting on his front step. He went out again later on, and had 5 different people give him money & checks to the total of around $1000!
When Jason got home, he shared this with our Pastor on Thursday at lunch. Roger had shared that on Wednesday he had seen a huge flock of Ravens circling our church. The story Jason told made sense to him now. 1/2 an hour after we left lunch, Pastor Roger called Jason and asked if he was sitting down. When he got back to the church, there was a Christmas card with a check for $20,000 written out to the church! $10,000 was ear marked for a family in Powell, but $10,000 was for the church to use as we needed it! Our church has been low on funds lately and we've had to turn away people that have asked for financial help. So this came as a huge blessing. Roger and Jason both shared this on Sunday morning. What's funny is that Roger learned our church is in the raven flight path from the river to the dump, we are in the middle of it! That brought a chuckle to many.
Jason hasn't had a chance to talk to Travis yet and tell him this story, but Travis did facebook Jason and asked if the Ravens had come yet? After our friends heard about the gift to the church while they were driving and they started looking for Ravens! :)
Our ravens will come all in God's time, even though sometimes it is hard to keep going or have the faith when things are tough.
I took this picture last night and it makes me tear up looking at. Tears because they are the loves of my life, but it is also a picture of how I want to be with the Lord. Safe in His arms. Not to have a worry in the world because He's got everything in control. He gives me what I need and like Katelyn, doesn't worry about if she's going to be fed or changed when she needs to be changed, her Daddy will take care of all of that. We need not worry.
I am so happy that Jason was able to go and be re-energized, refreshed with the Lord and get answers to some of the things he's been struggling with. God showed up and showed off!

Friend Filled Weekends
We are so blessed to have the close friends we do. Many of them, like us, don't have family near by, so we cling to the friends we've made and they become our family here. Many of us are going through tough financial times, but we know we can lean on each other for prayer and support.
Within the last month, we've been invited down to the CWAM base in Meeteetse to spend 3 weekends with our friends Kurt & Heidi Lancaster, and their boys JD & Joshua. We've had Thanksgiving there and last weekend we had a little Christmas party with a few other friends. Jason was also asked to do some work for a friend down there, which was perfect timing when we were there. Both Heidi and I are from Manitoba and brought up Mennonite, so we both like to cook. We thought we would try our hand at cottage cheese perogie making. A favorite meal of both our families.
They didn't turn out too bad and were quite yummy, but not quite as good as the ones we both buy when we're at home. We made about 4 dozen in the nap times of all 3 children. JD wanted to help once he got up, so he had his own piece of dough to practice.
We were quite proud of ourselves that there were no "leaky" seams when we cooked them.
Two weekends ago, Jason went to a conference, which left me and Katelyn at home. It was quite the weekend. The blower moter on my car quit the day after he left, leaving me with no heat in my car! That's not fun when the temps are well below 0F. Again, my friends stepped in to help the helpless, lonely momma. Sheila Henson was my "personal chauffer", taking me and Katelyn back and forth to Cody to the mechanic. She would take Katelyn so she would be warm, as I bundled myself up to drive the 30+ minutes in the cold car. That Sunday, the Hensons and I drove into the mountains to look for their Christmas tree and ended the day with supper at their house. Micah and Katelyn have seen a lot of each other and are quite funny when they are together.
Katelyn was being such a goof. She was sitting beside Micah but would bend over and pat him on the back and then sit up real quick. It was hilarious to watch.

If she can, she will try and go straight for his face with her little hands. We have fun watching them together.
My girl growing like a weed, at 7 1/2 months
This week of Christmas, we will be in Billings with Jason's family. His sister is coming home for a few days along with some other friends we haven't seen since June.
Merry Christmas Everyone! We'll get to Canada again in 2010!

"Lost" Addiction
Jason has been hooked on the tv series "LOST". If you've never watched, don't start because it will hook you, like a book you just can't put down. We had never watched it before and he has trouble watching series on tv because there is such a long break between episodes. So, he's gotten on Netflix and watches season after season without interruption. He's been doing this for quite a while now, watching 2 or 3 or more episodes at a time, sometimes until 2am. Since he watches on the computer, he can watch wherever he wants to, which is most times, on the bed with headphones. So he tells me he took some pictures of Katelyn. Of course I had to see what he had been up to. This is what I found.
