My Laundry Helper

I thought I would put Katelyn on my bed so I could put away some laundry, but somehow, it took me longer than I thought it would. Someone was so willing to help me unload the basket. She loves to unload anything. i.e. the diaper bag, toy baskets, laundry baskets. If you can fill it, she can empty it!

"Baby Baby"

Our little girl loves music. Something she comes by naturally as Jason and I love music. Jason was putting some cd's onto our computer and thought he would see what Katelyn would do with the headphones.
She doesn't look impressed but she gets so mesmerized she kind of zones out.
Jason held her on his lap for the entire classic rendition from Amy Grant of "Baby Baby". When he tried to take the headphones off, she fussed. She wants and loves her music.

Huge Blonde Moment

Thursday I headed down with Jason, to Meeteetse to spend the day with a friend. Jason has been working there for last couple of weeks and wanted the company of his wife. So, after he was done working for the day, he took his wife and daughter out to the Cowboy Bar for some food. I however had the car so I drove after picking him up. We had a good meal in a quiet restaurant and went to load up the car. Again I drove the 2 blocks to my friend's house, but something just wasn't right. Jason had the dome light on and was reading the local paper. As I pulled up into the driveway, it dawned on me, I didn't have my lights on! Oh well, it's a quiet little town and nothing happened. As I pull out Katelyn, the sheriff's truck pulls up behind me. We know the sheriff and his wife was at Faith's so we thought he was coming to see her. Jason makes the joke about giving me a ticket for not having my lights on. Well, that's what he was coming for! He saw me drive away and drove 60 mph to catch up to me, doing 30 in town, to come and capture the possible DUI he was thinking I was. I was so embarrassed. His wife came out as we drove up and poked fun, but only because her husband is the type that would give her a ticket and probably has. Thankfully, he was nice enough not to give me a ticket, but I have a feeling I won't be able to live this one down the next time I see him.

My Little Stinker

Today was Katelyn's 9 month Dr.'s appointment. I was curious to see how much she weighed and how tall she was. But it was also going to be a bittersweet appointment, due to her getting her shots. Last time, we had a dire time trying to get her calmed down and go to sleep at night and she ran a fever. So this time, I covered her with prayer and believed that nothing would happen. Praise God, she is in a great mood and has slept for 3 hours today, which is unusual for her. By the way, she is 17lbs 3oz, 25th percentile on her chart but she's 27 inches tall and still toothless. I put her in her new Jenny Jump Up for some play time and this is what I found. I just had to capture it. It looked hilarious with her jumping and her hands on her legs. We have such a clown. The nurses had a hard time sticking her with needles when she smiled at them. And how could you not...

She is a little chatty cathy. Da da da da is a common word during the day, but when it comes to night time and the crying begins, ma ma ma comes out. When Tucker walks by, da or ta comes out. We are both so amazed at how smart she is at such a young age and how much she has learned in such a short time. Food of any type is welcome with an open mouth along with the sippy cup. Hard to believe that we are into February already and in 3 months she will have her 1st birthday!

9 Months!

Raise your hand if you're tired of seeing my same two posts for January. Okay, you can all put them down. Time for something new.

January was pretty uneventful for us. Jason helped our friends, Mark & Amy Law, with their house. Mark has been working alone on finishing their home and needed some help taping and painting. Katelyn and I accompanied him a couple of times to keep their two boys and Amy company. Their youngest son Wesley is a day older than Katelyn. It was fun reconnecting with them and getting to know Amy better. Their oldest son William seemed to take a liking to me and told Jason, that when he came the next day, he had to bring his wife and baby.

This last weekend we ventured up to Billings for the wedding of Jason's cousin Jennifer. It was the smallest wedding I've ever been to, with only 40 people in attendance. Things weren't done in the usual manner at this affair. Jennifer and Brandon have been living together in Florida, but decided to come up to Billings to be married. This is where the majority of their families live. They had planned to just get married at the court house, but I think people stepped in and decided that they needed a regular wedding. So a wedding was thrown together in the last month and even down to the wire. Invitations weren't even sent out, so it was a word of mouth ceremony. It was still nice and somewhat personal. Jason's sister Malissa was asked to do the pictures, which she does a wonderful job at, but they both weren't really into the pictures as much as she and I were. But, she made do and took enough to get some good ones. Jason was in charge of the music and sound and did a wonderful job. The wedding started at 4pm and was cleaned up and everyone was gone by 8pm. The couple, having lived together already, weren't in a hurry to get their hotel room as other young couples are, (which I think is a shame) but they decided to go to some local bars and party with some of their friends in their wedding attire. The rest of us went home to our beds.

Malissa is just in love with her niece and always ends up taking a million pictures of my girl and thankfully, shares them with us through the web. When she wants to be in the frame, I get to take the pictures. Oh, to have a really nice camera!

Giving mommy Kisses This picture is so cute. They bribed Katelyn with the microphone she was playing with and dangled it above Malissa's head to get her to smile. She has such an infectious smile.

8 Months & Happy New Year!

2010, who would have thought we would ever get here. As my mom said on her facebook, "It sounds so futuristic".

To end out the decade, we took Katelyn to her very first bowling alley. We went with friends and siblings while we were still in Billings for Christmas on the 27th. Thank goodness, Montana has a smoking ban so we could take K with us. Usually bowling alleys are so smokey, but this one wasn't. She was having fun being passed to person to person. She had learned the trick of putting her arms out and people would hold her. So that is her new signal for "come and get me".

Katelyn also ended the year with her 8 month "birthday". Her grandma Pellegrino found this hat at Tractor Supply. It says "Country girl" which one day we hope she'll be.


New Year's Eve was pretty quiet. We had Jon and Sheila and Micah Henson over for deer steaks and then we watched tv, hunting shows and the ball dropping. We should have gotten the games out, but we didn't unfortunately. The kids both went to bed early, which made for a quiet entrance into the new decade.

We were blessed to get a video camera for Christmas. So New Year's day, we were alone at home and pulled up some music of a friends, on facebook. It's Christian Rap and I got Katelyn into the music. Jason saw it and had to "capture the moment". He sent it to our friend, Marco, with the caption of, "I think you could use a chick in your video."



We may be raising a little chatty cathy. For the past 3 days, she has been talking away and ma ma ma ma is her favorite thing to say. Of course, it probably doesn't help that I make a big deal to her about saying ma ma. She is so hilarious! She also learned today, that she can grab food off of her tray and put it in her mouth. Not a lot ends up in her mouth, more is played with on her tray, but she did accomplish a few pieces on her own.

Today, as I was mixing up bun dough for our monthly church potluck, I looked behind me and found my precious girl sleeping in her highchair. She didn't have a very long nap today and only had one, so she was pretty tired. This is a very rare occurance that she would just fall asleep on her own. She only lasted long enough for me to get my camera.
